Broncos stun Chiefs, play Taylor Swift

Plus: Brock Purdy fooled us all, CFB playoff tiers, and the World Series is tied.

Good Morning, and welcome to Savage Sports. There are some fan bases that just can’t seem to catch a break. I am sorry Bears fans.

ICYMI: I am starting to think Aaron Rodgers never actually tore his Achilles in the first place. Look at this man throwing a ball just a few weeks post-surgery. I mean, I’ll have whatever he’s having.

Also—the Jets keep finding ways to win, and now, Kirk Cousins is off the trade market with a (*checks notes*) torn Achilles. And so the plot thickens. ⬇️

Will Aaron Rodgers take another snap this season?

Denver Upsets Kansas City, Plays “Shake It Off”

Denver 24, Kansas City 9

In a stunning end to a 16-game losing streak against the Chiefs, the Denver Broncos stunned Kansas City in a game that wasn’t ever even that close.

The Broncos dominated the line of scrimmage, backing up what Denver has been able to do well so far this season. They rank among the league’s best in both the percentage of explosive runs and run block win rate.

Denver also dominated the trolling game, playing Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” after handing Travis Kelce and co. their second loss of the season.

For Denver, Cornerback Ja’Quan McMillian recorded his first career interception against none other than Patrick Mahomes. On the flip side, Russell Wilson’s performance was a mixed bag; despite throwing three touchdowns, he still held onto the ball for too long, resulting in four sacks and a pair of fumbles.

As for the Chiefs, the loss complicates their path to securing the AFC’s No. 1 seed. They now share a 6-2 record with the Dolphins, Jaguars, and Ravens, making their upcoming game against Miami a potential watershed moment for their season.

Next game for the Broncos: at Bills (Monday, Nov. 13, 8:15 p.m. ET)

Next game for the Chiefs: vs. Dolphins (in Germany) (Sunday, 9:30 a.m. ET)

Brock Purdy’s ‘Linsanity’ Run Is So Over

Cincinnati 31, San Fransisco 17

Brock Purdy’s streak of stellar performances hit yet ANOTHER roadblock during the 49ers’ most recent loss to the Bengals. Not only is Brock Purdy human, he’s a problem.

In a second-half slump, Purdy threw two interceptions and lost a fumble, crushing San Francisco’s chances at a comeback. This comes as the 49ers are already under scrutiny for a defense that’s struggled with poor tackling and soft coverage, and an offense that’s become increasingly error-prone.

Once 5-0 and topping Super Bowl contender lists, the team now heads into a bye week filled with questions.

On the flip side, the Bengals are reclaiming their status as Super Bowl contenders. Joe Burrow had an impressive outing, completing 28 of 32 passes for 283 yards and three touchdowns.

The defense also tightened the screws, forcing three second-half turnovers. Tee Higgins, whose early-season form had been shaky, seemed to recover, catching five passes for 69 yards.

Next for the Bengals is a game against the Bills on Sunday at 8:20 p.m. ET.

The 49ers will face the Jaguars on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. ET.

College Football

Three Tiers of Playoff Contenders

We are 9 weeks into the College Football season, which means November is here and the playoffs are closer than you think.

So who still has a realistic shot at making it, who is on the bubble, and who is still hanging on to just a shred of hope?

Tier 1 (greater than 70% chance of reaching the playoff): Michigan, Ohio State, Georgia, Florida State

Michigan leads with a 71% chance, bolstered by six weeks at No. 1 in SP+ rankings. Ohio State follows closely with a 67% probability, and both teams face a significant matchup in Rivalry Week.

SP+ gives a 41% chance for both to make the playoffs regardless of that game’s outcome. Georgia is in with a 65% chance, despite a weak strength of schedule. Florida State is in strong playoff shape, being heavy favorites in the ACC with a 55% chance of making the playoffs.

Tier 2 (11-30% chance): Washington, Oregon, Alabama, Penn State, Texas

Washington leads this group with a 30% chance but has tough matchups ahead.

Oregon sits at 25%, though they’ve already lost to Washington. Alabama and Texas are tied at 22% and 14% respectively, both having suffered key losses earlier in the season.

Penn State, at 14%, already lost to Ohio State but is still on the bubble.

Tier 3 (1-10% chance): Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Louisville, Missouri, LSU, Tennessee

This is the chaos, hold-on-to-your-butts tier.

Ole Miss and Notre Dame both sit at 8%, with the former potentially upsetting Georgia and the latter having a chance to make a statement against Clemson.

Oklahoma has been trending in the wrong direction, bringing them to a 7% chance. Louisville, Missouri, LSU, and Tennessee round out the group, each capable of creating chaos in the championship race.

MLB PLAYOFFS

World Series Heads To The Dessert, Tied 1-1

Arizona Diamondbacks Applause GIF by MLB

The World Series heads back to the desert tied at 1 game apiece after some more Adolis Garcia heroics and a strong bounce-back game for the Snakes.

ICYMI. The legend of Adolis Garcia continues to grow. You couldn’t write it up better than this.

The Diamondbacks bullpen, which has been rock solid this entire postseason, imploded in Game 1, allowing a ninth-inning game-tying home run to Corey Seager and then a walk-off blast to Adolis Garcia in the eleventh.

The Snakes were able to shake off the heartbreaking loss and came back to win Game 2 behind a masterful 7-inning performance by Merrill Kelly.

Ketel Marte broke the MLB record by extending his hit streak to 18 games in the postseason, and the Diamondbacks rolled to a 9-1 rout to send them back home for Game 3 with a win and some momentum.

ALSO, Tommy Pham is a class act.
